Can anyone out there help. Engine oil got accidently sprayed up the gable wall of the house and its completely destroyed. Is there anything we can get to remove it?

Default engine oil on gable wall

HI Sky
I was telling a friend of mine about your problem and he being a painter told me that if you wash the wall thourghly where the oil is you can then apply a substance called ESP sealer.. then paint your wall as normal.. but you must give the gable wall a really really good clean down first... hope it helps....

Default Thanks Mag

Hi Mag, we have so far power washed it and it looks even worse! God what a mess! A painter we know gave advice along the same lines as your friend. He said it would probably take an oil based undercoat to seal it and then a few coats of the usual emulsion. He said to do a test patch down low to see how it turns out. I wonder if the oil undercoat is the same type of thing as the ESP sealer your friend mentioned. I will try to find out before we do any more damage.

Default wall stains

Try stone-ex. it is a concrete cleaner, acid based. Just do a little a time and leave to soak. Hose off. Wear gloves and I find a spray bottle for application works best
