Default metal joints freezed by paint/rust

a fab fold up chair has been given to me by a jumbletowner, was wondering how to unstick the metal parts as these are holding the chair in fixed position.
doesnt look as if it will be easy, could be just the paint but most likely a combo of paint and rust.
suggestions needed on this prob but may just sand down and repaint, would love to unfreeze - in an ideal world!!!
xp

Default chair

Hi palminnie. have you tried wd40? always a good first resort. Just spray all the joints liberally and leave for a few hours or overnight. If rust is the problem this should do the job. If joints still stuck you could try paint stripper or heat gun to get rid of old paint. Then you can proceed as normal with restoration job. Happy crafting, Eibhlin
