Default New garden bench

I bought two metal ends for a bench a year ago at an auction for €3. They sat in the shed for a year while I thought many times 'I must get some wood for that bench'. I was at the re-cycling centre the other day and there in the timber re-cycling were three lengths of wood from a bed--perfect. Brought them home, cut them to 3ft lengths, put it all together, sanded, stained and varnished and Hey Presto--a lovely little bench for the princely sum of €3. Happy Days!!

Absolutely. I have two of them myself so hopefully will get started on that next. Amazing how often garden furniture is discarded at the end of the season when a quick upcycle could have it ready for next year. Don't forget to post phtos when you do it. I usually forge cthe before!!

Hi Gormal, think I am just lucky!! Working on another one now, again ends sitting in the shed and using recycled wood. Photos to follow.

Default recycling centre

Hi Felix, the recycling centre is at Golden Island behind Tesco. you are not actually supposed to take stuff but they usually turn a blind eye. Was there today and took a few pieces from the timber recycling to chop up for firewood. Great for getting the fire started!
