Default old clothes to advent calendar

Two years ago I found a lovely pattern for a patchwork Advent Calendar. I really wanted to make it for my daughter. So I had a look in my stash, in local charity shops and our old clothes.
The base materials were pillow- and cushion covers, the angels and hearts are made from scraps of materials, buttons from JT (thank you!), trees from felt I got on JT (thank you!), backing an old bed sheet.
The hardest part was the binding as I couldn't find enough green material anywhere. This was a man's shorts in former life, expertly disected and reused by my Mum :) Here, credits go to my Mum on this as I did only the fabric hunting and cutting then was busy feeding my little one while my Mum did the sewing :)

Fantastic paprika, you did a great job, what a lovely thing for your daughter, both her Mother and Grandmother had a hand in making for her, hope this lasts for years, WELL DONE BOTH OF YOU, Ruby.

Wow Paprika, that is beautiful, a real future family heirloom

Seeing it also reminded me that I had promised to send you some more old pjs and cardis and some broken jewellery before Christmas and I realised I had never posted it .... On its way now

What a fantastic achievement and something that you can use year after year! Looks great! You should start commissioning some for next year :-)

Thank you for all the lovely comments! I'm already starting another one for next year, as the little one wants one too :D

Thank you very much siri! Actually, the bottom stripe on this one is from an old PJ bottom :)
