Bindweed nightmare

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,

Has anyone got any tips on how to get rid of bindweed, it is all over my garden. I have used Resolva 24H & am now rotovating (raking out the roots) but it still keeps popping up. anyone got a really good way of getting rid of this please ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If my thinking is correct, bindweed twirls up the stems of your plants and flowers, smothering them. The best thing to do is to insert a stick beside the plant and let it wind around that for a while...then unwind it after a few weeks and carefully spray with a glyphosate weedkiller. Do it when the bindweed is in full growth rather than when it's young.

Hi folks, I have some of this bindweed in my garden too, mainly where I have rose bush and other climbers. Normally I just pull as much as I can out (but usually get the hands cut off me from rose thorns!) Can I spray around these plants with glyphosate? or will it harm them? Thanks in advance for any advice.

bindweed

I am going to put old carpet over the big area where I have loads of bindweed and other weeds and leave it there for a few months, I tried this on another area and the weeds died. I will spray with weedkiller first. If the bindweed is among other plants, try putting a cane in as in first reply and then unwind it and put a plastic bag over it and spray into the bag.

Thanks for all the replys, sorry it took so long to get back (lost my password)

The bindweed is nearly gone now after 2/3 goes of Resolva 24H (after letting it wind its way up some sticks) & 4/5 goes over with the rotovator & then rake out the roots.

It is still popping up in places but i just pull it out (as another site said this weakens it)

I guess its something that you can never get rid of completely but at least it is manageable now.

Thanks again for all the advice
