![]() Should be easily done. I made a compost bin/wormery out of an old barrel a while back. just drill plenty of holes in the base for drainage, and ideally several around the sides for aeration too. I put some gravel in the base of mine too to help with drainage, I was putting worms in it so I didn't want it to get waterlogged on the poor dears...

![]() Ive now converted my wheelie bin into a compost bin.
I drilled 6 one inch holes in the base for drainage. Then i drilled 6mm holes on 3 of the sides covering an area of 1sq.foot per side. Ive cut a flap at the back near the base to remove the compost when its ready. Now i have to play the waiting game to see if it works. Will try to get photos up on site if anyone is intrested. |

![]() hi all. Some great ideas I must say, thanks. Last year I drilled 5 inch holes in the SIDES of a blue plastic barrel, planted strawberry plants, and had a bumper crop this year!

![]() Hi the child
Would you explain in a bit more detail what you had to do to grow the strawberries please? Also are they grown inside or can they be left outside? Thanks |

![]() Hi Cascade,
Could you post pics of your conversion?? Would love to see them as we have a wheelie bin that we have been talking about doing this to it for about a year, but we can't seem to agree on the best way... such a harmonious household.... lol.... Thanks Phoenix1 |
