wire coat hangers
Just moved house and I'm trying to de-clutter, ANY ideas about what to do with old wire coat hangers??? I have about 20 of them but they always seem to multiply.

You could make a grass rake. The wire is also good to hang bird feeders.

Just been checking the internet. If you have the time and the inclination, check out these sites.
http://www.classiccleaners.net/dry_c...s-wire-hangers In the US some dry cleaners will take in your old wire hangers and use them. Don’t know if the Irish cleaners will do it, but you could ask. Also, you could ask your local charity shops if they need any. This site http://earth911.com/recycling/metal/...othes-hangers/ states that its not that easy to recycle the wire hangers if they have a plastic coating on them. Or this site http://www.wisebread.com/what-to-do-with-wire-hangers has some interesting ideas. I like the suggestion for using them to hang pretty colourful jars for candles. thanks, I have asked in one dry cleaners and they said they don't take them back, but a friend of mine said she just leaves them back to the cleaners and doesn't give them a chance to say no!! My husband has a bad habit of bending the hook in further so some of them are like that and I would understand the cleaners not being able to use them.
They don't seem to be one of the items that goes in the green bin, along with biscuit tins is very annoying. I am not very crafty, but during the summer I might have a go at doing something. |

If there is a recycling centre near you they come under the scrap metal category for disposing of them.

Wire coat hangers
If you know anyone that does car repairs, and they use a co2 gas welder, the wire coat hangers melt like welding rods and are very handy when your stuck for rods. A mate of mine use to use them for mending car exausts.

Store them away carefully, they will be needed some day for some small simple job that nothing else will do, use them in haste, repent at leisure :-)
